Wave Notation
Satoshi Ashikawa's environmental-music imprint on his Sound Process label, home to the three-LP Wave Notation series.
Wave Notation was the series Satoshi Ashikawa curated on Sound Process, the label he founded in 1982, to release kankyō ongaku (environmental music) conceived as musical landscape rather than foreground listening. It comprised three LPs: Hiroshi Yoshimura’s Music for Nine Post Cards (1982), Ashikawa’s own Still Way (1982), and Satsuki Shibano’s Erik Satie (France 1866–1925) (1984) — the series ended with Ashikawa’s early death.
