Recorded in Antwerp on September 30, 1995, during Mal Waldron’s 70th birthday tour, The Mighty Warriors documents Waldron and Steve Lacy’s quartet with Reggie Workman on bass and Andrew Cyrille on drums, working through a set including “Epistrophy,” “Monk’s Dream,” and Waldron’s “Snake Out.” Released in 2024 by Elemental Music as a limited numbered pressing, with liner notes drawn from interviews with Evan Parker, Vijay Iyer, David Liebman, Jane Bunnett, and David Virelles, among others.
