The Haters

GX Jupitter-Larsen (b. Gerald Xe Jupitter-Larsen, 1959) has led The Haters since the late 1970s as a vehicle spanning noise performance, conceptual art, and destruction-based events — early shows often invited audiences to physically wreck the venue and equipment, treating decay and entropy as compositional material rather than metaphor. The project has appeared on several hundred cassette, CD, and vinyl releases and been documented in The Wire and the noise anthology As Loud as Possible. Jupitter-Larsen has since worked in film, invented novels, and served as a sound designer for Mark Pauline’s Survival Research Laboratories; The Haters has collaborated with John Wiese’s Sissy Spacek.
