Founded in 1973 by Felix Visser after he bought an EMS Synthi AKS and set out to build something more capable, Synton became a leading European distributor for E-mu, Ensoniq, and Fairlight while also building its own instruments — including modular systems sold to Karlheinz Stockhausen — before going bankrupt in 1989.
