SWR Experimentalstudio
Freiburg studio for live electronics, founded 1971 within the Heinrich Strobel Foundation.
Founded in 1971 in Günterstal near Freiburg within Südwestfunk’s Heinrich-Strobel-Stiftung — named for the broadcaster’s music department head, who had commissioned works from Cristóbal Halffter and Karlheinz Stockhausen for the 1970 Donaueschingen Music Days that led to its creation — the SWR Experimentalstudio specializes in live electronics, working directly alongside composers rather than producing fixed tape pieces.
