Eduard Artemyev’s score for Andrei Tarkovsky’s Solaris (1972) is built on the pioneering ANS synthesizer, centered on somber variations of J.S. Bach’s Chorale Prelude in F Minor set against dissonant, formless drone — the first of Artemyev’s three Tarkovsky scores, preceding The Mirror and Stalker.
