Rex Probe was one of the CalArts students — alongside Rich Gold and Randy Cohen — who worked with Serge Tcherepnin to build the first Serge modular systems from 1972. When Tcherepnin exited synthesizer manufacturing in 1993, he licensed the Serge name and designs to Probe, who continued the business as Sound Transform Systems.
