Revenant Records

Austin, Texas archival label co-founded by John Fahey in 1996, specializing in blues, old-time, and experimental reissues.

John Fahey used an inheritance from his father’s 1995 death to found Revenant Records in 1996 with Dean Blackwood, dedicating the label to archival reissues of blues, old-time, and experimental recordings alongside new work by artists including Derek Bailey and Cecil Taylor. Its 2001 Charley Patton box set, Screamin’ and Hollerin’ the Blues, won three Grammy Awards in 2003.
