Originally released in 1990 on Alchemy Records, Rainbow Electronics condenses roughly 21 hours of material Merzbow recorded between 1987 and 1990 into four parts spanning about 74 minutes, moving from slower, eerie passages of reverbed metal scrapes through sudden dynamic shifts toward a violent close. Urashima’s 2020 double-LP reissue, limited to 299 copies, reproduces the original gatefold artwork with a 12" insert.
