Philips Research Laboratories Electronic Music Studio

Eindhoven facility where Varèse realized Poème électronique for the 1958 Philips Pavilion.

From September 1957 to April 1958, Philips gave Edgard Varèse a dedicated facility at its Research Laboratories in Eindhoven — assisted by engineers including Willem Tak, Jan de Bruyn, and Anton Buczynski — to realize Poème électronique for the Philips Pavilion at the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair, a building designed by Le Corbusier with Iannis Xenakis. Its equipment passed in 1960 to the new Studio voor Elektronische Muziek in Utrecht.
