Peter Kolman

Peter Kolman (1937–2022) was interned as a child with his family at the Terezín concentration camp from 1944 to 1945, and later studied composition at the Bratislava Conservatory, graduating in 1960. Working as a music editor for Czechoslovak Radio in Bratislava from 1961, he secured experimental-workplace status for a studio there in 1964 and co-founded its formal successor, the Experimental Studio of Czechoslovak Radio, in 1965, serving as its artistic director until 1977. During the post-1968 normalization period his works were banned from performance and publication; he emigrated to Austria in 1977, working as an editor at Universal Edition in Vienna until 2002.
