Oramics Studios
Daphne Oram's independent studio, founded 1959 after leaving the BBC, at Tower Folly in Kent.
Founded by Daphne Oram in 1959 after she left the BBC Radiophonic Workshop she had just co-founded, Oramics Studios for Electronic Composition was Britain’s first independent electronic music studio — and Oram the first woman to run one. There she developed Oramics, a technique for drawing directly onto sprocketed film strips to generate and control sound.
