Nicolas Collins

Nicolas Collins (b. 1954) trained in the experimental compositional tradition of Alvin Lucier, David Behrman, and David Tudor, all of whom he went on to work with closely — performing as a member of Tudor’s live-electronics ensemble Composers Inside Electronics (founded 1973), and assembling and mixing Tudor’s Three Works for Live Electronics using a microcomputer-automated mixer of his own design. In the 1980s he became a pioneer of microcomputers in live performance, working extensively with homemade circuitry, radio, and transformed found instruments; he later edited the Leonardo Music Journal.
