Founded in Norwich, Vermont in 1976 by Cameron Jones and Sydney Alonso to commercialize the Synclavier they’d developed at Dartmouth College, New England Digital shipped the first commercially available real-time digital synthesis instrument in 1978 before closing in 1993.
