The self-titled debut of Neu!, recorded with producer Conny Plank at Hamburg’s Star-Musik studio in December 1971, months after Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother left Kraftwerk to form the duo. Its opening track “Hallogallo” introduced the steady, forward-driving “motorik” beat that became one of krautrock’s most widely cited rhythmic templates.
