Monobirds

David Tudor's previously unreleased recordings, made in India in 1969 and reworked at a New York club a decade later.

In December 1969, David Tudor made a series of recordings on Moog synthesizers he had carried from the United States, at the Electronic Music Studio of the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, India. A decade later, on 1 March 1979, he returned to one of these recordings — which he had come to call “Monobird” — as the primary source for a session at the New York discotheque Xenon. Monobirds (From Ahmedabad to Xenon) gathers this previously unissued material, spanning 1969 to 1979.
