Successor to the San Francisco Tape Music Center, established at Mills College in 1966 under Pauline Oliveros.
Established in 1966 when the San Francisco Tape Music Center relocated to Mills College under a $15,000 grant, the Mills Center for Contemporary Music continued the earlier Center’s work under founding director Pauline Oliveros, becoming a long-running hub for experimental composition on the West Coast.
