Mille Plateaux

German label founded 1994 by Achim Szepanski, a primary vector for philosophy-inflected glitch, microsound, and IDM.

Founded in Frankfurt in 1994 by Achim Szepanski as a sublabel of his Force Inc. Music Works, and named after Deleuze and Guattari’s A Thousand Plateaus, Mille Plateaux became one of the primary institutional homes for philosophy-inflected experimental electronic music — releasing landmark glitch, microsound, and IDM records (including three albums by SND) and explicitly folding continental theory into its musical presentation, sometimes labeled “techno-Deleuze” or “theory-rave.” After a long hiatus, Szepanski reactivated the label in 2018.
