Mika Vainio
Finnish sound artist; co-founder of Pan Sonic.
Mika Vainio (1963–2017) formed Panasonic — renamed Pan Sonic after legal action from the electronics company — with Ilpo Väisänen in Turku in 1993, building a severe, physically forceful electronic minimalism from custom-built oscillators and pulse generators. Outside Pan Sonic he released dozens of records under his own name and as Ø, including through Raster-Noton and Editions Mego.
