Macronympha

Macronympha was formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1990 by Joseph Roemer and Rodger Stella, building dense harsh-noise collage from metal junk, analogue electronics, and looped and layered tape — one of the longer-running acts in the American cassette-noise underground that took shape alongside labels documenting the genre through small-run releases. Stella left the project in 2007; Roemer has continued it since, with occasional guest appearances from Tim Oliveira (Stimbox) and Dominick Fernow (Prurient), releasing primarily through his own Mother Savage Noise Productions. Across three decades the project has also collaborated directly with other noise acts internationally, including Japan’s K2 and Government Alpha and the UK’s The Grey Wolves.
