Korg Mono/Poly
Korg's 1981 four-oscillator analog synth, switchable between four-note polyphony and massed-unison mono leads.
Released in 1981, the Mono/Poly is built around four VCOs that can be played as a four-note paraphonic patch or stacked together in unison for a thick monophonic lead, with oscillator sync, cross-modulation, pulse-width modulation, a single 24dB filter, two ADSR envelopes, two multi-wave LFOs, an arpeggiator, and chord memory. That flexible split between true polyphony and massed-unison mono sound, in one instrument, gives it a raw character distinct from typical polysynths of the era, and made it a favorite in techno and electro production.
