Klein + Hummel

Klein + Hummel was founded shortly after the Second World War by Walter Hummel, Horst Klein, and Heinrich Brumm, former colleagues at WEGA’s Stuttgart facility, initially building measurement equipment for radio and television and professional low-frequency amplifiers. From around 1955 it also sold HiFi amplifiers and tuners, withdrawing from the consumer market around 1979 to focus on professional studio equipment, including the active studio monitors — the O 92, O 96, and O 98 — for which it became best known. Sennheiser acquired the company’s distribution and development operations on 1 March 2005; production continued at Ostfildern until relocating to Sennheiser’s Tullamore, Ireland facility in October 2006, and Klein + Hummel was formally dissolved on 31 December 2009, with its studio-monitor line transferred to Sennheiser subsidiary Georg Neumann GmbH and relaunched under the “KH” designation.
