Józef Patkowski

Józef Patkowski (1929–2005) toured the electronic music studios of Cologne, Paris, Gravesano, and Milan before founding the Polish Radio Experimental Studio in Warsaw in 1957, directing it until 1985 and opening its resources to composers including Krzysztof Penderecki, Eugeniusz Rudnik, and Bohdan Mazurek. He went on to found a second Electronic Music Studio at the Academy of Music in Kraków in 1974, running it until 2000, and served as chairman of the Polish Composers’ Union from 1979 to 1985.
