Jon Hassell (1937-2021) was an American trumpeter and composer, a student of Stockhausen and collaborator with La Monte Young, who developed “Fourth World” music — a hybrid of electronically processed trumpet, studio production, and vocal and instrumental techniques drawn from non-Western traditions.
