The Institut International de Musique Électroacoustique de Bourges (IMEB) succeeded the Groupe de Musique Expérimentale de Bourges in the 1990s, and in 1997 was recognized by the French Ministry of Culture as a National Center for Musical Creation — one of the world’s most active electroacoustic music institutes, continuing Bourges’s annual competition and festival.
