Founded in Chicago in 1983 by Daniel Burke, Illusion of Safety moved across four decades from early industrial-pop deconstruction through minimal sound art to dense found-sound collage, releasing more than forty full-length albums. Jim O’Rourke was an early member and co-composed the 1992 album Probe with Burke.
