Founded in Bourges in 1970 by Françoise Barrière and Christian Clozier, the Groupe de Musique Expérimentale de Bourges (GMEB) built its own performance and teaching electronics — including the Gmebaphone diffusion system — before reorganizing in the 1990s as the Institut International de Musique Électroacoustique de Bourges.
