Released in 1982, the SP2016 was the first programmable hardware effects unit, built around Eventide’s own array-processor DSP circuit and expandable through add-on ROM chips — its “Room Reverb,” “Hi Density Plate,” and “Stereo Room” algorithms became touchstones of digital reverb, extending the company’s reach beyond the Harmonizer pitch-shifter line.
