Founded within Radiodiffusion Nationale in 1942 by Pierre Schaeffer and Jacques Copeau, the Studio d’Essai became a center of the radio Resistance and produced the first broadcasts from liberated Paris in August 1944 — before being renamed Club d’Essai in 1946.
