Harmonia
German electronic trio of Michael Rother, Hans-Joachim Roedelius, and Dieter Moebius, formed 1973 in Forst.
Formed in 1973 in the rural village of Forst, Harmonia paired Neu!’s Michael Rother with Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius of Cluster, releasing Musik von Harmonia (1974) and Deluxe (1975). Brian Eno spent eleven days living and recording with the trio in Forst in September 1976, bringing a four-track recorder and an EMS VCS3 — sessions Eno later called some of the most important of his career, though the tapes were considered lost and the resulting album, Tracks and Traces, wasn’t released until 1997 (expanded in 2009). The original trio reunited for the first time since 1976 to open Berlin’s Worldtronics Festival on November 27, 2007, and continued to tour together through 2009.
