A “film without images” for electronic and concrete sound, Gaku-no-Michi (“the way of music”) took Jean-Claude Eloy over 1,200 studio hours across 1977-78 at NHK’s Electronic Music Studio in Tokyo, weaving concrete recordings of everyday life in Japan against purely synthetic, abstract sound into a work nearly four hours long.
