Founded in London in 1969 by Peter Zinovieff, David Cockerell, and Tristram Cary, EMS built the portable VCS3 — used by Pink Floyd, Roxy Music, Kraftwerk, and Jean-Michel Jarre — and the large-format Synthi 100, before going bankrupt in 1979.
