Éliane Radigue
French composer of slowly evolving electronic and acoustic drone music.
Éliane Radigue (1932–2026) began at the GRM in 1955 as tape assistant to Pierre Schaeffer and Pierre Henry, learning tape splicing and montage before a second stint composing under Henry in the late 1960s. That apprenticeship, and a subsequent falling-out with both, pushed her toward her own long-form practice — first tape feedback loops, then decades of slowly evolving drone on the ARP 2500, and later acoustic works composed by ear with performers.
