Released in 1972 on Mainstream Records and recorded at the Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University, Electric Sound gathers one live-electronics piece from each member of the Sonic Arts Union: Alvin Lucier’s “Vespers,” Robert Ashley’s “Purposeful Lady Slow Afternoon,” David Behrman’s “Runthrough,” and Gordon Mumma’s “Hornpipe” — a document of the individual practices the group’s collaborative touring and performance work grew out of.
