Cosey Fanni Tutti
British musician and artist (b. Christine Newby), founding member of COUM Transmissions and Throbbing Gristle.
Cosey Fanni Tutti (born Christine Carol Newby, 1951, Hull) — her stage name suggested by mail artist Robin Klassnick, after Mozart’s Così fan tutte — was a founding member of COUM Transmissions in 1969, representing Britain as an installation artist at the 1975 Biennale de Paris, before co-founding Throbbing Gristle in 1975 on guitar, cornet, tapes, and vocals. After the group’s 1981 split she continued recording with Chris Carter as Chris & Cosey, renamed Carter Tutti around 2000. She has published two memoirs, Art Sex Music (2017) and Re-Sisters (2022).
