Z'EV's 1988 LP assembling and reprocessing a decade of live percussion recordings, released on Dossier Records.
Released in 1988 on Dossier Records, Bust This! gathers twelve tracks drawn from live percussion recordings Z’EV made between 1979 and 1985 — at venues including New York’s Sorcerer Sound and The Music Building, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and Melkweg, Stockholm’s Music Gate, and San Francisco’s The Compound — reassembled and digitally reprocessed in 1987, largely with Andrew McKenzie (later of the Hafler Trio) handling processing, mixing, and final assembly. Z’EV described the record as “less based on percussion and more on tape treatments,” extending his metal-and-industrial-object performance practice into the recording studio. Track X (side B, track 3), sourced from a December 1979 recording at The Compound in San Francisco, was engineered by Rex Probe, later founder of Sound Transform Systems.
