Elektronmusikstudion (EMS)
Swedish national electronic music studio founded 1964 in Stockholm — distinct from the British synthesizer manufacturer of the same acronym.
Founded in 1964 in Stockholm and funded by Sveriges Radio, Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) built one of Europe’s most advanced computer-based studios for electroacoustic composition, directed by Knut Wiggen from 1964 to 1975, who created the composition software MusicBox there. Not to be confused with Electronic Music Studios, the unrelated British synthesizer manufacturer that shares the acronym.
