Eddie Prévost
British percussionist, co-founder of AMM, and founder of Matchless Recordings.
Eddie Prévost (b. 1942) is a British percussionist who, alongside Lou Gare, Lawrence Sheaff, and Keith Rowe, co-founded AMM in 1965, developing a percussion practice built from bowed cymbals, resonant drums, and found objects rather than conventional time-keeping. In 1979 he founded Matchless Recordings to document AMM’s work and that of related improvisers outside conventional industry structures, and has since written on improvisation in No Sound Is Innocent (1995) and Minute Particulars (2004).
