Recorded March 14, 1975, and originally released that year on ISKRA Records in an edition of only 100 copies, Eclipse pairs two of Masayuki Takayanagi’s signature compositional approaches: “Gradually Projection,” a searching interplay slowly emerging from a sparse, open field, and “Mass Projection,” a dense, high-energy barrage sustained across 25 minutes. Takayanagi plays electric guitar alongside Kenji Mori (alto saxophone, flute, recorder), Nobuyoshi Ino (electric bass), and Hiroshi Yamazaki (drums, percussion). Reissued by Black Editions in 2022, remastered by Dave Cooley.
