Recorded in September 1972 at Marzette Watts’s New York studio, Duo Exchange paired drummer Rashied Ali (formerly of John Coltrane’s late groups) with tenor saxophonist Frank Lowe in an unaccompanied duo, and became the inaugural release of Ali and Lowe’s own Survival Records in 1973. This 2020 edition expands the original LP with previously unissued material from the same sessions.
