Recorded at Conny Plank’s studio and released on Sky Records in 1977, Cluster & Eno was the first full album Brian Eno improvised directly with Cluster, following his 1976 recording sessions with the duo’s offshoot trio Harmonia — a meeting of Eno’s emerging ambient vocabulary with Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius’s own synthesizer-and-tape-based sound, followed a year later by a second collaboration, After the Heat.
